Empowering parents, students, and educators with educational-enriching workshops
SEL - Cultivating it at Home
Discover the essentials of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and how to nurture it within your household. This workshop will cover the five key components of SEL: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Relationship Skills, Social Awareness, and Responsible Decision-Making. Parents will learn to recognize warning signs and develop each aspect of SEL at home, thereby fostering a supportive environment that promotes their children’s emotional and social growth.
“Anxiety/Stress & Key Coping Strategies” Part l.
Two of the most pressing issues facing students and parents today are anxiety and stress. This workshop (Part 1) focuses on how to regain and maintain control, which is the underlying cause of fear, which triggers anxiety. A general anxiety assessment (GAD-7) is given to parents to evaluate their level of anxiety, followed by several evidence-based techniques, including a goal-setting activity, “Developing Mental Boundaries”, “Grounding”, and “Redirect and Replace” to change the internal wiring (neural pathways) to control general anxiety disorders and associated behaviors.
“Anxiety & Key Coping Strategies” Part ll.
Part ll. begins with a general anxiety assessment (GAD-7) to assess or reassess general anxiety levels. Strategies are then introduced that match each level to reduce the physical manifestations of anxiety and stress. This session includes Aversion Therapy Techniques, the Vagus Nerve Reset exercise, Third-Person Self-Talk, Sphincter Muscle Relaxation, and Breathing Exercises (Intermittent and Box Breathing). Finally, the correlation between sleep patterns/disorders and anxiety is discussed, along with techniques to minimize sleep deprivation. Parts I and II are presented independently or in sequence to create a solid foundation upon which to build.
“Parent’s Guide to Reducing Test-Taking Anxiety”
This is a must-attend workshop for parents who have children who exhibit ”pre-test” stress or test-taking anxiety. This workshop will enhance your child’s confidence and increase their chances of achieving successful test-taking outcomes. Parents will learn how to help their children calmly process, retain, and recall information. Equally important, parents will leave this session with test preparation strategies and physical exercises to help their children reduce anxiety and create mental clarity.
"Self-Acceptance vs. Self-Esteem"
A recent research study indicated that only 22% of parents understand the difference between self-acceptance and self-esteem, as well as the role self-acceptance plays in a child’s early development and academic success. This workshop clarifies the differences between the two and identifies which comes first. Parents will leave the workshop equipped with the tools to enhance their child’s self-acceptance and sense of “voice,” leading to a more confident and self-assured child. A self-esteem assessment, video demonstrations, and case studies are incorporated into this highly interactive workshop to reinforce the strategies shared.
